This concept for a new community retreat on the NSW Mid North Coast includes permaculture gardens to support organic, zero waste food production.
On completion, the development would be completely carbon neutral and off-grid by generating its own energy.
It is designed with the local community in mind with plans for permaculture gardening courses and cooking classes. Visitors and local residents are encouraged to eat together and get involved in communal activities.
There are cabins on site for paying guests as well as permanent accommodation for the owners and for refugees. Housing and meals would be provided free to refugees in return for assistance tending to the land and building maintenance.
This concept of a cash-free micro-economy would be applied to the wider community, providing a hub for people to trade goods, time and skills with each other in an informal and mutually-beneficial way.
