This stunning, contemporary waterfront home in Seaforth was a challenging but incredibly rewarding project.
The open-ended brief called for “something beautiful”, which would unify the site from the street to the water and envelope the magical views from this serene, leafy outlook.
Our design articulates a sense of enchantment as one approaches the entrance with magnificent views visible through the glassed foyer.
A floating roof over the triple height foyer acts as visual punctuation, framing the vista beyond between the home’s contrasting wings at either side. This translucent central feature draws the eye through the structure and creates a sense of lightness within the building’s mass.
Limestone cladding on the lower street front evokes a masculine solidity, anchoring the dwelling to the site.
On the other side, a zinc-clad façade broken up with privacy screens provides a lighter counterpoint.
The duality between these two elements creates the visual interest required to ensure the success of the dwelling’s stature.
