C&R House – Blue Mountains

On a narrow, densely forested property, high in the Blue Mountains, Archisoul was challenged to design a Japanese Zen-inspired retreat.

Capturing natural light was a priority on such a heavily shaded site. Our design uses angled pavilions to draw in north light through high windows an at the side of the home. A courtyard illuminates the rear of the house and the glazed corridor brings light into the spine of the home.

A stone garden, water feature and clean formal planting invoke a Zen sense of stillness. The unique design on an elevated hallway – at the same height as the kitchen bench – creates a generous, inviting and light-filled living area. Exquisite.
