Archisoul has joined the ranks of internationally recognised architecture practices, winning Silver at the 2026 Better Future World Design Awards.
These global awards recognise innovative, sustainable designs in a range of categories, including international projects designed by Australian architects.
Our multi-award winning entry, RUH House, a family home prototype designed for the United Arab Emirates’ House of the Future competition, claimed a Silver trophy at the Sydney Design Awards last year before winning Gold at the 2025 Middle East Design Awards.

RUH House is an unusual project for Archisoul as it is crafted to meet the specific circumstances of Emirati families living in Dubai. The most challenging of these is the harsh climate. Summer temperatures regularly reach 50C with 90 per cent humidity, making Dubai one of the world’s greatest per capita electricity consumers to power residential air conditioning.
With a view to lowering the city’s electricity usage, the competition brief called for energy-efficient architectural solutions to reduce reliance on artificial cooling. Our awarded design achieved that objective with a combination of modern and traditional passive cooling techniques.
Wind towers are an integral part of the concept. Derived from Dubai’s traditional “barjeels”, they allow hot air to rise up and out of the building while capturing winds to circulate cooler air onto the ground plane. Another cooling feature is the internal garden “oasis”. It serves a dual purpose anchoring the home in Dubai’s Bedouin heritage and lowering internal temperatures through the mechanism of evapotranspiration.
Other measures include extensive use of concrete and stone tiles, leveraging the thermal mass of these high-density materials to absorb and dissipate heat. Movable stainless steel perforated screens and mesh curtains provide privacy as needed in a flexible layout, while facilitating cross-ventilation and solar shading.
This project showcases the unique vision, versatility and passion for sustainability embedded throughout Archisoul’s design practice. Meeting a challenging brief to design a high-performance family home within strictly delimited financial, physical and cultural constraints, this design combines aesthetic excellence with imaginative, practical solutions.
In blending the wisdom of traditional architectural approaches with modern materials and our signature aesthetic elegance, Archisoul has achieved a rare feat: design that is both ultra functional and formally exceptional.
Archisoul is immensely proud of this design and grateful for the global recognition conferred by the BETTER FUTURE World Design Awards program.
