V&C House – Manly Vale

The clients approached us to design a new home for a high site in Manly Vale. The brief sought to capitalise on the site’s potential for expansive, wide-angle coastal views while capturing as much natural daylight as possible and ensuring a seamless connection to the garden.

Our design response created a north-facing courtyard to harness north light and draw it into the home’s interior. Unimpeded indoor-outdoor flow via a linkway bridge provides direct access to the rear garden and pool area, facilitating the family’s enjoyment of this space.

As the site is steep, it was imperative that in designing the pedestrian and dry access to the home, we ensured that there was no view loss. Our design met that challenge, enabling access from the front door to the second-floor while retaining coastal views to the east.
