Director Jo Gillies, was given the magnificent opportunity to give a series of talks on the cruise ship the Rhapsody of the Seas early this year. The talks focused on a range of topics related to South Pacific Architecture from underwater and luxury resort architecture, to the history of pre and post-colonial architecture and the indigenous structures and spirit houses of the Pacific Islands. The trip culminated in Jo leading a group to the Jean-Marie Tjibaou Cultural Centre in New Caledonia which celebrates the vernacular Kanak culture by Renzo Piano.
